ISTJ

I often associate Robert De Niro with “Taxi Driver“, “A Bronx Tale and “The Score” just some of my favorite De Niro movies. All movie classics which have aged well spanning several decades, with prolific roles in a wide range of films that showcase his versatility as an actor.

Aside from these involvements, De Niro is up there with the likes of Al Pacino and Marlon Brando which over the years has maintained close friendships with.

When it comes to typing De Niro, it is quite clear he is an ISTJ personality type. Though some sources vote the ISTP, I just don’t see Ti/Fe (Introverted Thinking/Extraverted Feeling) in De Niro’s cognitive function stack as I do Te/Fi (Extraverted Thinking/Introverted Feeling).

De Niro has demonstrated his ability to take on diverse roles in both dramatic and comedic genres. Some of his other notable films include “The Deer Hunter” (1978), “Heat” (1995), “Silver Linings Playbook” (2012), and “The Irishman” (2019).

His role as Jake LaMotta in “Raging Bull” earned him the Academy Award for Best Actor. De Niro is praised for his ability to undergo physical transformations for his characters and for his meticulous approach to method acting.

As a duty committed, intricate, intense and introverted ISTJ, Robert De Niro puts in the hard work for just about any role, but it’s those old gangster flicks like the “Goodfellas” that really molds well for De Niro.

Throw in the zoot suit, slick back (salt pepper) hair and fat cigar and we basically have a Robert De Niro. Classic!

“Movies are hard work. The public doesn’t see that. The critics don’t see it. But they’re a lot of work. A lot of work. When I’m directing a great dramatic scene, part of me is saying, “Thank God, I don’t have to do that”. Because I know how fucking hard it is to act. It’s the middle of the night. It’s freezing. You gotta do this scene. You gotta get it up to get to that point. And yet, as a director, you’ve got to get the actors to that point. It’s hard either way.”
